The Island of Oblivion

In the silence that soon returned, Blade distinguished a noise, breathing, rumbling... The one who had served as a shield was alive. He went up to him and crouched down at his face level. The man wasn't dead, but he wasn't much better off. Blade couldn't do anything for him except talk to him. The words would not be understood but the intention would perhaps come across. The dying man stared at him with a look dripping with terror. Blade didn't understand either. How could he have let himself be surprised? Of course these four guys had arrived while he was sleeping... But they must have been following him for quite a while... How could he not have felt their presence? The man clung to Blade's arm, raised his head, as if he wanted to communicate, to speak... Then his head fell back. He was dead.
